R Siding poorly installed patio door & then filed a lien on property 3 weeks after installation having gotten a $3000.00 deposit before work was started.

Contracted with R Siding of Valley, Ne. to install a new patio door in a rental property. Paid a $3000.00 deposit and was told the door would be in in 2 weeks. Informed them that time was crucial as we would be away from home for an extended period & needed it installed prior to our departure. The door was installed 5 weeks later after we had left for vacation and we were never able to see & approve the installed door. This company does not take credit cards so we sent final payment in when we returned just 3 weeks after installation. However, they forgot we were going to be away & dunned us for final payment and placed a lien on the property. We were informed upon our return home that the door was not installed satisfactorily leaving a gap at one corner for air & bugs to enter the house. The house had been sold, the buyers didn't want to delay the closing so we paid the lien to get it released. They had also charged us 2 separate interest fees of 1.5% because they did not receive final payment within 10 days! They have never admitted that the door was not installed properly and have never even examined the installation. Extremely poor service. They made promises about installation that they never intended to keep. Just wanted our job and our money. Do not know the manufacturer as we never saw the door and did not get any warranty information.
